Peculiarities of divorce in Georgia in 1960-2009

The European type of demographic behavior is characteristic of Georgia. From this point of view only divorce can be considered as an exception. The point is that the level of divorce in Georgia traditionally always was low. This, on the one hand, was conditioned by strong social and demographic traditions of divorce and family life, on the other hand, during the period of Soviet rule, particularly, communist ideology, existed until the 1980s. Through this research it was found the consequences of divorce and divorced females and males, also children’s attitude to divorce in the period after divorce. It was found its positive and negative sides. In our opinion, conduction of the analogical sociological research in European countries example would give us very interesting information on the one hand on the peculiarities of divorce in separate countries; on the other hand, it would enable to formulate a general action program for further action after divorce, as well as a specific action program for separate countries.
